Kitchen remodel plumbing
Kitchens move the sink, add an island, and switch to gas. Each is a plumbing job with a drain, a vent and a supply to plan. We do the rough-in while the floor and walls are open and the finish work once the counters are in.
What we plumb in a kitchen remodel
The photo is finish work from one of our renovations: new vanity plumbing and fixtures set after the tile and stone went in, the same stage we do for a kitchen once the counters are down.
Sinks, islands and gas
- Sink relocationDrain and vent rerouted, supplies moved, often the chance to replace old galvanized branches.
- Island sinks and dishwashersAn island drain needs a specific venting approach; we plan it so it is to code and does not gurgle.
- Gas ranges and cooktopsA gas line to the range location, with shut-off and sediment trap, inspected before the range goes in.
- Pot fillers and ice makersSmall supplies that are easy now and expensive after the backsplash is on.
- Finish plumbingFaucet, disposal, dishwasher, filtered-water tap and supply stops set and tested.
Working with the cabinet schedule
Rough-in happens before drywall and flooring; finish happens after counters. We coordinate with the cabinet and counter dates so the sink is usable the day the counter is set, not a week later.

Kitchen plumbing questions
Can I switch from an electric to a gas range?
If there is gas service to the house, yes. We run the line, fit the shut-off and connect the range after inspection. Gas appliance hookups →
Does an island sink need special venting?
Yes. With no wall to vent through, an island uses a loop vent or an air admittance valve where permitted. We plan it during rough-in.
