Bathroom remodel plumbing

The bathroom is the room where plumbing decides the design. Where the drain can go sets where the shower can go. We do the rough-in and the finish plumbing so the room you planned is the room you get, and the photo is one we finished: a marble-clad soaking tub and glass shower.

What we plumb in a bathroom remodel

A finished bathroom with a marble-clad soaking tub, matte black tub filler and a glass-enclosed marble shower, with a laundry room beyond.
The finished tub and shower after a full renovation.

From drain to fixture

  • Walk-in showersA new drain location, a linear or centre drain, the valve body set at the right depth for the tile, and the head and hand shower connected.
  • Soaking tubsA tub drain and overflow, a deck- or floor-mounted filler, and supplies sized so it fills in reasonable time.
  • ToiletsRelocated flanges, new supplies, wall-hung carriers where the design calls for it.
  • VanitiesSingle or double, with drains and supplies placed to clear the drawers.
  • Venting and the old pipeProper venting for every fixture, and galvanized or cast iron replaced while the wall is open.

Rough-in, then finish

Rough-in: after framing, before drywall. Drains, vents, supplies and the shower valve body are set, the system is tested and the rough-in inspection passed. Finish: after tile and cabinets, we set the fixtures, connect, test and clean up for the final inspection.

Why Queen Plumbing

Valve bodies set to the wrong depth and drains that cannot be reached are the two mistakes that ruin a tiled bathroom. We set them right, on schedule, and we have the finished bathrooms to show for it.

Can I move the toilet across the room?

Usually, if the floor structure allows the drain to be rerouted with proper slope and venting. We confirm during the estimate.

Tub to shower conversion: what is involved?

The tub drain is replaced with a shower drain in the new location, the valve is replaced and set for the tile depth, and the supplies are adjusted. A common and straightforward job.
